Elite male UK National cyclo-cross Champion Ian Field has been backed by Challenge for the coming season.  Ian is currently 29th in the World Ranking having had a successful 2012/2013 season culminating in his first victory in the elite national championships.  “My season was structured 100% around the national championships. I really felt I needed that result and I was so happy to put a plan in action and for it all to work out perfectly” said Ian. “This coming season is going to be slightly different and I need to raise my game again as I’m sure defending a title is just as hard as winning it in the first place.  However I also want to get some breakthrough results in major races.  I’ve had 15th in a World Cup already, now I need to get consistent at that level.”

Ian will be starting the season in the USA again, but will have a slightly reduced American program, starting with the Charm City Cross on 22 September.  “I won the Charm City race last year and it’s the perfect place for me to start the season. I’m starting slightly later this season to allow me to ensure I have a better build up to the World Championships, also held in the USA.  During the trip the America last year I met my now team mate Tom van den Bosch, and I think having Tom in the team is going to a big boost to me.  We’ll both be riding for Hargroves Cycles – Specialized, giving us 3 elite riders with Jody Crawforth.   It should be a successful combination.”

“Working with Challenge is unboundedly going to be a great boost for me.  The products are exceptional; I was blown away by the quality and selection when I received them.  I’m looking forward to putting them through their paces in training and during the season.  I’ve already seen the working relationship and product innovation in action as I’m very involved with the Challenge brand ambassador, Helen Wyman.  I’m sure my partnership with Challenge is going to give me another edge this season.  I’m particularly looking forward to using the 33mm profile and seeing the gains in respect of the Limus tread in muddy conditions”
