      A long weekend in CX

The busiest long weekend of cross so far this season started on Thursday with in Ardooie in Belgium.  World Under 23 champion Eli Iserbyt continued his good form with 5th place in the Elite men’s race. Thomas Pidcock took an excellent 8th place for the new TP Racing team.  Ellen van Loy finished 2nd in a very close Elite women’s race, with Katherine Compton close behind in 3rd.

On Saturday Ellen once again put in a strong performance in Boon in round 2 of the SuperPrestige finishing 6th.  Elle Anderson and Eva Lechner finished 8th and 9th respectively.

The biggest event of the weekend was on Sunday in Switzerland as round 3 of the UCI World Cup took place in Bern.  On an incredibly fast course, Felipe Orts Lloret finished in 8th with Steve Chainel in 10th.  In the Elite women’s race Katherine Compton took another podium finish with 3rd. Maghalie Rochette progressed throughout the race to finish 6th ahead of Ellen van Loy in 7th

Perhaps the strongest performance on the day was in the U23 race, where Eli Iserbyt powered away from the field to take the win.  Eddy Fine was 2nd and Thomas Pidcock narrowly missed the podium with a 4th place.

The long weekend of ‘cross finished with the Kiremko Nacht van Woerden under the floodlights on Tuesday night. Ellen van Loy once again put in a big performance to finish 2nd.  Elle Anderson finished 6th in her 3rd race in 6 days.
