• 2013/03/05 Heading for the cobblestones of Drenthe
    • The Boels Dolmans Cycling Team is heading for another kind of cobblestones in the Dutch Region Drenthe. Three international races are planned for the team, the most important one is without doubt the Boels World Cup Ronde van Drenthe scheduled for next Saturday. The team will start with six riders representing four different nationalities. Leaders of the team in this race will be Lizzie Armitstead, Adrie Visser and Martine Bras. They will get the support of Romy Kasper, Jessie Daams and Emma Trott. Two days earlier Bras and Kasper will also start in the Acht of Dwingeloo and will be accompanied there by Lucy Martin, Kim de Baat, Pauliena Rooijakkers and Nina Kessler. Martin, De Baat, Rooijakkers and Kessler will also race the Novilon Eurocup on Sunday, this time together with Armitstead and Trott . Armitstead is able to train without pain after she fell on her knee last Sunday. Although she did complain about a little stiffness of the knee, no problems are expected this weekend. Race director Danny Stam is hoping to see his riders in the front in Drenthe this week. ,,At the Omloop van het Hageland they proved to be a real team and the collectiveness should be our main force this season. I’m convinced the riders of Boels-Dolmans will take initiative. I hope it will lead to a spot on the podium, but of course there are no guarantees in cycling.”
